directional asymmetrics Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Wed, 11 Apr 2012 06:22:39 In Reply to: Directional tread patterns..., Stephen Goldberger, Wed, 11 Apr 2012 05:40:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
those would be a bit tricky to manage wear... I was thinking more along the lines of symmetric directionals that can be flipped over the rim (like Tim's old Contis, Pilot Sport A/S, or the Nokian NRH2's we had on a c900)... I like that those patterns tend to do really well in water. That said, I am also looking at asymmetrics like the Z G2, Conti DW, etc...
I'm a little concerned that if we have further suspension issues down the road, we might eat an expensive set of asymmetrics rather fast + have no recourse (eg vs flipping directional symmetrics over the rim).
But my question re load ratings still remains... Michelin seemingly makes 1 tire in 225/45R17 that has a 94 load rating and it is the Pilot Super Sport, which imho is overkill for what I want. So is everyone here running 91's? upsizing to 235 width? I thought the 7" wide rim is rather narrow for that?
