I just started hearing some noise that I would expect a loose chain would do. It was especially pronounced when I would release the throttle and RPMs would quickly drop. It now seems to went away - maybe the tensioner extended one more click.
I checked the tensioner plunger extension and it appears to be at 18 mm - I understand the spec is 15 mm max. I now have the following questions:
1. Is this normal for this mileage?
2. Any reason not to just roll in a new chain and replace the top chain guide only?
3. Is there a good place in Boston area that can do this job? I tried Michael Motorsports in Medfield and ABJ in Somerville and they both want to do the whole timing thing (pull the engine and do both chains, gears, guides) for a lot of $$$. I can do the chain myself but kinda short on time lately and worried about screwing up something.
