An extended warranty is a form of insurance. In the worst case (but very unlikely) scenario this insurance will cover perhaps $4000 worth of repairs. You are being asked to pay about a premium of about 30% of maximum return. Sure its a great deal - for the warranty company. Follow this simple rule: never buy an extended warranty on anything. If you follow the rule, you will come out ahead in the long run.
I have driven over 300,000 miles in SAABs, I have never had to have any repair that would have been covered by an extended warranty -extended warranties do not cover "wear and tear" items
