If you look at my postings from May onwards, you will see that I have suffered from precisely the same symptoms. For your further information, I had no problem when cornering or braking. I don't think it was a wheel bearing since the noise was unaffected by side load and the bearings only had about 25k miles on them.
And then it simply went away (see "sweet mystery of life" on this BB).
Since then, I have sometimes noticed a single pop when I return the wheel to center from a sharp right turn at very low speed...doesn't happen above twenty mph nor does it happen if I swing the wheel through center into a left turn. I can not even duplicate the effect with anything like consistency and otherwise the ride has been as quiet as it has been for many years. Go figure...
