Andy, I am far from an expert there are many others on here who actually are true Saab mechanics!. From what I have learned there is only a couple things that cause a no crank condition (at least on my model and year saabs): The Neutral safety switch, the starter, the ignition switch battery cable or a seized engine. the best way to diagnose the NSS is to do the jumper on the K relay. To diagnosis the starter have someone try to start the car while you read voltage at the starter itself. The ignition switch can cause all kind of funky issues with lights not working, radio not working, alarm issues and a no start etc. etc. From what you stated it appears it could be something with the ignition but I would start a new thread. Good luck and sorry I could not help more.
