Am having weird issues with a 02 ARC V6 not starting.
Tried Advice on board and thought it was fuel pump because I did hear it cycle when i turned the key to start. However as a last resort after running down my battery and scouring this board for advice, I learned that the crankshaft position sensor affects power to the fuel pump and the DI cassette. I then put a puff of starting fluid in the intake and connected jumper cables to the battery and voilà it started. Thinking I was out of the woods because each time I turned the key, I heard the pump cycling and pressurizing the system. I then proceeded to drive car around and I ran multiple errands, instead of going to my mechanic like I should have :( Today, it ceased to start, I had it towed and they say I need a fuel pump because there is no pressure at the rail and there are no codes.
My question is will the Crankshaft Position Sensor always throw a code if it fails? They said their is no pressure at the rail, but am I wrong to believe that if the CPS failed, it will not activate pump, thereby not giving pressure? Is there a way to bypass the sensor and turn on the pump?
