Saab screws are far superior Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 11 Jul 2012 02:28:56 In Reply to: License plate screws, AdamSAAB2kAero [Profile/Gallery] , Tue, 10 Jul 2012 18:27:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I added a Saab license plate frame and trunk lid handle to my 2000 when it was nearly new. Due to the combined thickness of both accessories I had to buy longer SS screws for the bottom license plate anchors.
Fast forward 11 or 12 years to March 2012 when I sold the car. The two remaining original Saab screws were corrosion free and backed out of their holes with no issue. The hardware store Stainless Steel screws were corroded tight and I had to cut them off with a hack-saw to remove the plate.
The Saab screws were obviously a much higher grade of stainless. Aircraft grade maybe?
