and on being a "died-in-the-wool" Saab enthusiast. I usually end up leaving at some point, but I always come back. I never seem to be perfectly happy with a car and I'm always looking elsewhere, and will now come clean with my rather insane car history. My first Saab was an '87 900s manual, then later got an '88 Jetta. Missed the Saab so much that I ended up getting a '97 900s manual, then in another fit of insanity got a 2000 Jetta. Lived with that for a year, then got a new 2001 9-5 wagon (lpt, auto) when we had our first child. In '04 thought I should try something else and leased a new '04 Volvo V70R manual, I quite liked that car. After that lease ran out I thought about getting another one but found an '02 9-5 Aero sedan (manual), thought that was a great compliment to the '06 MINI Cooper S convertible I had at the time.
Then we moved into a loft in Chicago that only had one parking spot, so I sold the '02 9-5 and the MINI and got a new '08 Mercedes R350, after three years hated that so much that now I'm back in Saab, this time an '07 9-5 Aero wagon. When I look at all of this it all seems a bit nuts (this doesn't include my wife's cars), I should've just bought a new Aero wagon in '01 with a manual and kept it - I would have saved quite a bit of money that way.
I'm now looking at getting a Nordic stage 2 with a cat back, to breathe a little more excitement into the Saab - what's available now just doesn't excite me that much.
