thanks for the great post. Sorry to see you leaving, but fully understandable.
It hurts to see good loyal Saab people go away. The reality is that only those who are mechanically inclined and/or have a good independent mechanic can still enjoy the benefits of Saab ownership.
I have owned 14 Saabs going back to 2-strokes. My wife and I currently have 95 Aeros 2003 and 2001. I am lucky to have Walter Wong at the Right Solution in W. LA do the big jobs, and with all the information on this site I do the rest.
I plan on keeping our 95s for a very long time. I don't really see much out there that drives like these cars do and have that great audio, and safety and fuel economy etc..
I find the part situation not to be bad at all. Sometimes I have to research a little more, but I have been able to get whatever I need for these 95s. Working with a dealer must be a different story. They have 1 source and they want to maximize their profit.
My point is that if getting grease under your fingernails is your idea of fun, but can still be a Saab 9-5 owner for a long time to come.
One last comment.....if you thing the Arc is nice try an Aero!!
Good luck with your new car and check back in with us once in a while.
