I am doing my wife's 2003 Aero Automatic right now. So far I have the fans out and will finish tomorrow when I get the radiator and upper and lower hose.
this is what I have learned so far:
1. take the lower fairing off under the car.
2. unplug the fans
3. unclip the hose clipped to top of fan housing. Be careful they can break, but zip ties can replace them.
4. remove the 10mm head bolts on both sides of radiator. 10mm socket and ratchet.
5.remove the by-pass hose and valve....unplug the electrical connector
6. If you have an automatic transmission there this an 8mm head screw into the plastic on the lower fan housing. You need a 8mm socket and a ratchet to remove. Pull the fan house up a bit to reach it. This one is tricky.
NOTE: on the 2003 its is a good idea to remove the battery and battery box bottom. this gives more clearance to get the fans out.
7. lift the fan housing our carefully wiggling it and raise the drive side higher and first.
I have not removed the radiator, I will do this tomorrow
I will drain the radiator by opening the petcock.
take the clamp off the pump with a pair of remote/cable pliers. the upper radiator hose comes off easily.
I have cleaned the auto trans cooling line banjo fittings. I will take these off, and keep the ends of the tubing clean.
detach the radiator from the upper mounts.
Remove other hoses and raise the radiator.
I have heard that it is a good Idea to put the hose on the lower radiator outlet and clamp in place and then attache the hose to the pump. Makes sense because the lower hose clamp in impossible to reach with the radiator in place.
