Currently my 1st choice is Zimmermann Z-coated (looks like paint or powder coating) rotors. I had great experience in the past with zinc chromate plated rotors from iRotors.com - essentially no rust after 7 years in New England salty winters. Based on that experience I went with R1 Concept plated rotors for my Saab - and what a difference. They were rusted after less than 2 seasons, including rust on the swept surface (with Akebono ceramic pads). They must have put 1/10 of the proper plating thickness, or did not clean the parts properly, or used inferior cast iron.
Also, R1 Concepts claims to use just plain gray cast iron as material with two grades (G3000 or G3500) depending on the "premiumness" level. Their primary business seems in cutting holes and slots, I do not think they make the blanks or deal with castings. At the same time Zimmermamn claims to add copper, molybdenum, titanium alloys to the mix.
You may have great experience with your set up - but being two different cars there is a million other things that are more likely to influence brake feel than the rotor type.
So, did you go with the R1 black painted rotors? Because they only sell either zinc plated or black painted rotors.
