I'd say it depends a bit on your interests. I ran michelin primacy alpin PA3's last winter from 7mm down to 6mm of tread (bought "used 1 season" - new they are a hair over 8mm of tread, same as XIce)... In terms of driving comfort and dry road handling, they are excellent, probably in part due to being H rated. In terms of snow and especially ice behaviour, they were imho mediocre. The c900 with ancient worn out goodyears was better. And we had a weak snow year - so much so that I didn't bother to change the c900 over to hakkas (much better than the goodyears)... I have run various Hakkas on the c900s and I find they work really well.
So this year I resold the michelins and bought Nokian Hakka R's for the 9-5. They come from the factory with way more tread than the michelins and hopefully will be great (friends who have them like them) but I will report back once I get some miles in adverse conditions... they probably won't handle as well on dry roads as the michelins since the R's have an R speed rating... I'm ok with that if they stop better on ice.
