No. A compression test and even a leakdown test through spark plug holes will not really reveal a problem like that unless something is really wrong with the piston rings.
I know you want one straight answer answer but it is none to give in this case.
Piston rings that are only as bad as to heighten the oil consumption and create some blowby will not show up on a compression test. A very carefully executed leakdown test might show some signs but it might not.
When the cylinder head is removed from the car, they can perform a leakdown test of the piston rings alone and that might be more precise since you are testing just the rings and not piston rings and intake/exhaust valves at the same time.
But we are probably getting off track here and the leak might just be at the timing cover three-way split to head and engine block.
