To fix the temp gauge, replace the thermostat and temp sensor. Both easy and cheap. It's one of the other but it's cheaper and easier to replace both than diagnose.
Unplugging the siren is the way to go, and you won't lose A/C by unplugging it directly behind the wheel liner. You'll get a message on the SID, but my independent mechanic shut it off using his Tech-II.
Plug gap doesn't seem to come up, but DI failure does every once in a while, though the later models seem to be more reliable. The factory DIC in my '04 Aero gave up at 34k miles, but its replacement is still going at 115k. Plug life is 36-40k miles.
Not sure why oil capacity would have changed. Maybe has to do with engine efficiency. Less oil to warm up means slightly better efficiency?
