As a 9-5 owner for almost 13 years now I agree with Brett's advice regarding the thermostat, temp sensor, and plugs. The most recent DIC modules, those identified on the bottom side sticker as a TK3.6 or TK3.7, do not catastrophically fail - as a general rule. They will start to throw CELs when restarting a warm engine which is a nice heads-up that they are approaching end of life. This end of life is anywhere from 50K miles to 100K+ miles depending on driving use. Long daily commutes on the expressway seem to contribute to long DIC life.
Saab Parts AB and/or SEM, the manufacturer of the DIC modules, have recently raised prices substantially for these modules to a MSRP of $609. If you have an older model DIC in your recently acquired Aero I would replace it now while OEM units are still affordable. Some of us here have bought spare OEM DICs from CarQuest within the past two weeks at their current catalog price of ~$245 each just to have one on hand for the eventual failure. eEuroparts has announced they are holding prices at the old value until their current supply is exhausted.
I had a Dealership Tech with a Tech-II disable my siren module and activate the horms as the audible alert on my former 2000 model. My cost for this service was only $25, less than the cost of the batteries and capacitors to repair the old siren - for the third time. I need to investigate my recently acquired 2008 model to see if it even has a siren as all locks/unlocks are silent with this car.
Engine oil MUST be full synthetic! I strongly recommend use of a 5W/40 weight due to this blends marketing application toward diesel engine use for which the EPA allows a higher concentration of anti-wear additives. Mobil-1 and Shell Rotella-T are two easily found synthetic oils in this weight. The 9-5 engine placement also allows use of a longer oil filter, such as the Mobil-1 M1-209 or Purolator's PL20195, for extra filtering capacity. I don't know if these longer filters were commonly used on this engine in 900 and 9000 cars.
The 9-5 engine is susceptible to failure due to low oil pressure. Keep the oil full, the filter clean, and make sure the oil pick-up in the sump is spotless. You should drop the engine sump to verify this last item.
I drove my 2000 model for 318K miles before selling it. I had a Used Oil Analysis performed at 300K miles and it showed no evidence of unusual internal engine wear. That's why I recommend the 5W/40 weight.
