I recently did the Pep Boys dummy antenna fix on my 2002 Aero SW.
I used a new sharp utility knife to carefully cut off the rubber coating, then the plastic cover. I taped-off the roof around the work site, since the process is pretty messy.
After completely removing the rubber & plastic, I clipped off the Gone-Star sheet metal antenna leaving just the PCB. There's a remnant of rubber & plastic underneath, but it will no longer act as the seal.
Next, I removed the tape, cleaned the paint, then placed a hairdryer on the roof blowing warm air onto the PCB & roof, covered with a box to help trap the warm air.
While the roof is warming up, take the Pep Boys dummy antenna (Pilot # CZ292CF SKU: 9892075) and trim the center out of the adhesive sheet leaving only a 2-3mm rim around the perimeter.
Remove the hairdryer & box and test-fit the cover. If it fits okay, peel off the liner and stick it down, then apply the hairdryer again and press down for a few minutes.
Viola!
