I can sympathize with your frustration, especially with a nice new car. There's nothing worse than having to return to fix something they caused. It seems that quality workmanship is harder and harder to find, whether it's an auto service department, or any type of service or product. Is it because they don't know how to do the job correctly, or is it because they just don't really care? What happened to pride in workmanship?

My '95 9000CS: Eight visits in 11 months for the slave/master/clutch. They just couldn't get it quite right. I finally gave up. Total of 52 dealer visits in just under 7 years. Included oil changes, maintenance, multiple problems in single visit, returns for same problem, etc. That averages out to every 2000 miles, or every 7 weeks, for 7 years. I call it "very well maintained". Actually, when I looked back at all the work that was done, a lot of things were minor, many were covered under warranty, several trips were returns for same problem, and some problems were caused by previous sloppy repairs. The car wasn't really that bad... but still makes me want to say "no wonder I bought a new one". Now, what's wrong with that logic? (Maybe I should have "bought" a new service department? Or dare I say, that beautiful charcoal gray BMW X5?)

I don't want to scare any of you new Saab people out there. Saabs are as good (or bad) as any other European make, probably better. And they are a lot more versatile and fun! So relax, enjoy, happy (safe) driving :)
