Both Eeuroparts and The Saab Site show a short belt scenario for my 2002 9-5. Trouble is the 2415mm belt shown barely fits w/maybe 1/4" to spare. I gave this a try because the old longer belt with center pulley kept jumping off said center pulley. With virtually no play however, I knew this belt would fail early and it is slowly shredding as suspected. I just ordered a 1" longer belt and will give this a go. How much travel should the tensioner have from lock to lock in belt length? My guess as to why the listed short belt is too short is something to do with the vehicle being an Aero and/or a larger diameter pulley somewhere in the system. Perhaps an aftermarket alternator or pump? The tensioner is not malfunctioning and has plenty of range. My guess is that I could run a 97" belt. The 95" belt is simply short on my Aero. I ordered a 96" Gator.
