I'm parting out my 1999 9-5, a friend needed a radio for his 2000 9-5 but neither of us has a Tech2 or reasonable access to one. After some Googling I determined that IC602 on the main radio board stores the immobilizer information. I swapped his chip into my radio and voila, works great. It's not terribly difficult soldering but it's surface mount so it requires some magnification and a fine soldering tip. A few small special tools also help but it's well within the abilities of anyone with the patience.
