Its interesting what one might find in the Saab service software...
I was perusing the WIS and EPC last night, as I'm looking at another 9-5 to add to the collection (of one...). A Wagon this time.
Looking at the WIS about some of the wagon-specific procedures, like the tailgate struts, I came across the procedure for removing & installing the wagon's roof cargo rails. There's a warning in red to the effect that "rails with 6mm bolts must not be refitted to the car, but must be replaced by rails with 8mm bolts" along with notes about drilling out the holes to 8.5mm (4 per side).
Looking in EPC, apparently the black rails changed in 2000, presumably having the 8mm bolts, as also a new nut was specified. (there was also listed a "matte chrome" rail set for the 2007 "Anniversary" model).
I know parts and/or their spec changed all the time, but I was intrigued by the warning NOT to refit the 6mm bolt rails to the car they came off of...
I wonder what else lurks in there...
