Hi all!
I logged in this morning and was both surprised and pleased to find most of the regulars still post here regularly.
I've been cheating on my Saab with a Infinity G37 coupe for the last twelve months. 300+hp, awd, exhaust, a man can get used to a toy like this... Twelve blissfull months of zero mechanical issues. Push. Start. Drive. Repeat.
Time has come to part with the Infinity (heavily subsidized lease deal) and I want to resurrect my 9-5 Aero and call it back into service. I didn't do the best job of 'proofing' it for storage but I did turn it on from time to time to drive it, put stabil in, etc...
It's been three months since lot drove it. I went to turn the key the other day. Dead. Took the battery to Autozone to have it charged. Picked it up (noticed leaking water on the sides which I thought was strange). Battery was tested on bench after charging as OK charge and OK CCA. I put the battery in, gauges came to life, fill coolant comes on (unrelated), I turn the key and there's one loud click. No turn. Lights and gauges go dead but gauges stay "energized" i.e. they don't drop to zero, stay where they were.
Would a starter go "bad" just sitting around in a matter of months (was fine last time)? Or is this a case of a dirty connection? I can't do the job myself and saw the labor requirements for this and the expenses of getting this back on the road are adding up, quickly.
Also, my rotors have a lot of rust. Will I be able to get away with grinding it off lot driving the car?
I read some of the starter replacement and jumping pins threads but not sure I understand them fully.
