Powder coated rims

Bought some BBS rims of of eBay and had them checked, tried and powder coated a lovely silver ... as close as possible to the original. While I lost the polished outer rim with the new surface, they look great. Imagine my surprise when they did not fit on the hubs : (
My local Indy mechanics (after they were done laughing at the noob) said it was common problem with the very tight tolerances if the center bore, and that even 1mm or less coating in there can lead to fitment issues. Luckily some 220 grit sandpaper is the solution to the problem. Just a heads-up for those that are looking into the powder coating option: no coating in the center wheel bore, or on the surface that contacts the hub, or in the lug sockets. Apparently there is heat durable tape that could have been used to mask those area and saved me a lot of headaches.
In other news, I just sent my order in to Nick for some Stage 3 tuning hardware ... finally after talking about it for three years! Cheers.
