Was rear-ended a couple of weeks ago into right rear corner.
04 Aero, mint condition prior to the accident, 85Kmiles.
Right now there is a war-of-tug between the insurance companies.
Still, it is 100% clear to me that it will be a write-off, as the damage is:
- Rear bumper cover bent and cracked, one park sensor gone. Re-bar appears intact though.
- trunk lid bent
- rear body panel on the right bent/shifted forward (spare wheel hatch rubs against the rear trim).
- right fender shifted forward a tiny bit (the door opens OK, but the gap is a couple mm smaller, especially around the wheel arch.
So what the all-knowledgeable All would recommend?
1.
Get as much cash from the offending party's insurer and repair? Estimate with used parts is in 3.5-4K CAD region. Used parts supply in my part of Canada is pretty thin, so lots of remote buying would be required.
2.
Or fight for the scrap payment (not likely to exceed 7-8K, methinks) and start thinking of another car?
Thanks for the insights!
