If there is a ridge worn in the master cyl, you will damage it. One method is to take a piece of cardboard, poke a hole in it, cover a full, open master cyl with it, open the bleed valve and use a compressor to blow air at the hole. All you have to do is raise the pressure of the container by a 1-2 psi and the fluid will bleed nicely.
