I have a 01 Aero and this AC is giving me BIG problems. I have done a lot of ac work and I can't figure this out. When I got the car last year, the compressor was bad. I replace it with a new Sanden, expansion valve and receiver/dryer. AC worked ok, but not ice cold. Then summer came and it was only cool. I discharged, vacuum, and re-charged it up and the same. About 70F from the center vents.
I was frustrated and took it to the shop and they checked it, discharged it, and charged it and the same thing. They were stumped and I didn't want to spend more than the $200 in labor so I took it home. Thought it might be bad expansion valve so I replaced that, vacuumed and charged. Still no cold AC.My pressures are good, about 30-40 and 210-250.
Now the clues: The high pressure line is pretty warm. The low pressure line is cool, not cold and sweating (90F here). There is water coming out from the drain on the passenger side. It is fairly cool. The right side vents are fairly cool, about 70F. The left side vents are warm to hot and the center vent is pretty warm. I checked the ACC for error codes and don't find any. The shop apparently attached an OBD and found a code B1600-4 (in parenthesis 960024). I couldn't find anything about those for Saab.
So, at this point, it is charged up, new expansion valve, compressor working and running constantly, AC sucks. Any ideas are welcome.
