All,
Owner of a '01 lpt wagon with 166k on the clock. Turbo recently went (lots of white smoke all the time). I decided to source a used TD-04 turbo for replacement. All seemed well with the install, only hitch (and this may be my trouble) was that when the replacement arrived, the v-clamp that holds the turbo together was not attached. I think that the seller might have thought about taking it apart to rebuild, unsure. It supposedly only had 94k on it. Well, as I said, the install went well and the engine fired up and was running well. Now (a few days later), however, I have noticed that whenever I press on the gas any decent amount some smoke will come out the tail pipe ONLY when i let off the gas completely. Did I get a bum turbo? Oil level is not going down. Any help/guidance would be great. Thanks much!
