PCV 6 is not a panacea, and pcv<6 is not a death sentence. What #6 does is allow more draw at idle, but the real prevention for sludge is quality oil changed at appropriate change intervals. Each succeeding revision was designed to improve on the previous iteration, save #5, which was to remove #4 and revert to #3. #6 merely extends that "appropriate change interval" to match what people more typically do.
