Not sure why the camshaft seals gave you such a headache.
Even if the sheet metal rear cover is in place, I just use a flat screwdriver and pop them out and then use (I think) a 30 or 32mm socket to tap the new ones in.
The camshaft end is heavily tapered so the new seals lip should easily slide up onto the camshaft without being damaged.
But yes, this is not a job for the fainthearted with a bent screw driver and monkey wrench alone in their arsenal.
My usual time I charge is 3 hours for the timing belt with pulleys and a new serpentine belt and pulley.
0.5 for the camshaft seals, 1 hour for the thermostat and 0.5 for the water pump in this scenario.
