Should last ~100K highway miles, less w/ in town driving Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 13 Oct 2013 13:22:15 In Reply to: DIC at what miles?, CASaab, Sat, 12 Oct 2013 00:32:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
First off, Congratulations on your acquisition! I keep looking for low mileage recent 9-5s in case something unfortunate happens to my '08 Aero sedan.
You should also replace the plugs when you replace the DIC. Aeros require platinum plugs which are more expensive (under $20 each but only four), your '09 may have the Aero engine as well. Non-Aeros can use the copper plugs which are commonly under $2 each.
The good news is that improved DIC units and improved ECU software result in warnings that the DIC is approaching end of life. Usually manifested as a CEL when restarting a hot engine, and giving you the days necessary to order a new one before total failure.
