At about 155K i did this on my '96 9000.
Put on the Sachs Sport Chassis kit which was the Aero shocks, struts and springs, plus put on thicker sway bars front and rear. New tie rods ends and control arm bushings were done about the same time. Made the car feel like new. Still feels great 53K miles later, and a lot better than it would be if I hadn't done it.
If you're going to be keeping the car a couple years it's worth it, and will make the car easier to sell, since it will feel good to drive.
