Depending on how the Alternator was rebuilt. The bushings (voltage regulator)usually the first to go. To make better profit, the company that rebuilt these Alternators could substitute Bosch brand of voltage regulator vs the one that made in China. Not knocking on China, but consumers requested alternative products, so this is what you get. That is why you see different prices for a rebuilt alternator from just 1 online source. Couple of years ago, I went through 3 Alternators in 1 calender year with my 9-5. Years ago, I went through 2 Alternators in 1 year on the earlier Saab 900, which I had a very reputable rebuilding shop in town rebuilt it. I also went through 3 Alternators with my VW Jetta VR6 as well. That was a nightmare and very costly due to the difficulty.
I hate replacing the 9-5 Alternator.. Next time, I will pay someone else to do the R & R with my part.
Good luck!
