Oil Leak - Second opinion please

OK - my 01 has a moderate to severe oil leak. PCV updates have been done. The car actively leaks while running as opposed to seeping overnite. I put dye in the oil and traced it to the upper left corner (common area - head/cover/block junction). My car vin# is out of range for the faulty headbolts - although I re-torqued them twice to make sure. The oil appears to be leaking from the head/block union as it comes out of the recessed corner area and leaks down the front of the TC. I've been told/read that chain tensioners are also a common leak point. If the chain tensioner were leaking, wouldn't the oil/dye show up more around the mounting and possibly run down the rear of the motor - instead of the front? I'm looking for second opinions/suggestions as one fix (tensioner $600) cost more than three times the other (head gasket $2000). Thanks for any suggestions.
