Sure the v6 probably uses fuel a bit less efficiently, but the fuel penalty of driving around town comes from getting all that mass up to whatever speed you are driving, then stopping, and doing it all over again... over and over in stop and go, traffic lights, corners... the faster you accelerate, the more gas you use... I've certainly had some really low mpg tanks in winter. heck even in summer. Depends primarily how much highway... but in winter, we probably waste some gas to wheelspin etc... I've started using winter mode on the 9-5. The c900's don't need all this kind of babying (TCS etc) to drive great in snow, but the 9-5 does... our 1989 out-accelerates, out-corners, and out-brakes the 9-5 in snow, even with TCS/ESP on on the 9-5 and not even ABS on the c900, both cars with hakka snow tires, albeit different sizes and models). I'm hoping using winter mode will improve my fuel economy. Maybe try that?
