Yeah, pulling the oilpan on a car of $ 7,000 or less - too much effort.
I have a solution nobody is doing but I think it makes sense. Get the dipstick level perfect, then ask to do an oilchange and measure the waste oil you get. If you're not getting much oil, pay for the oil change and just walk away. Now, the question is, is 3.5 quarts a good yield? Is 3.25 quarts still OK? What about just 3 quarts? I think the more you are prepared to spend, the higher above just 3 quarts you need to be.
