These brake systems have reservoirs vented to atmosphere. Every brake application causes more air exchange and the fluid pulls the moisture out of the air. That is how the fluid becomes contaminated, no place else. You should not pump that through the system. Extract all that you can then fill with new fluid and pump that through the system. If you have all wheels off the ground, you can force all of the calipers back in as much as possible to increase the amount of fluid extracted from the reservoir. Monitor the reservoir so you do not over flow. When you do this and refill, pump the brakes to get the calipers out so when you get off the jacks, the brakes will work. You can do that after, but you must remember.

Note that the maser cylinder can have rust deposits in the bore where the cup seals do not normally travel. During brake maintenance, if you press the brake petal all the way down, rust can cut the cup seals and you can soon later be replacing the master cylinder. I always suggest placing a wood block behind the brake petal to avoid that, and be sure to remove later. I use a length of 2x4 and place to get the thin section.

I replace the fluid at the M/C every year. I have some syringes and trick tubing to get as much as possible. Brake fluid is very inexpensive and this operation can be fast and easy once you work out a good method. My fluid always looks clear.
