Beware of cheap idler pullies

I spent the morning replacing what I had anticipated to be my serp belt (long)and tensioner. I had noticed considerable vibration in the tensioner pulley recently and was kcicking myself for not having replaced tensioner assembly 23k miles ago when I did the idler and center pulleys w/belt. Anyhow, got the belt off and discovered that the upper idler internals were destroyed - bearings rolled like shrapnel inside, and bearing somehow banged around enough in the plastic pulley that it literally fell out when removing retention circlip. At 23K!! Thankfully, I had a used pulley from last replacement that was at least good enough to install to get car running today. Actually seems like it's in pretty good shape - no more than 40K on it. The failed pulley was substantially different in construction - bearing was held in with aforementioned circlip, with a Korean sourced bearing. Used OEM Saab bearing re-installed was NNT (?) bearing press-fit into pulley, which looked more substantial than the newer one.
Don't remember where I got the failed pulley, but I think Rock Auto? I almost always look at source and choose quality/known brand over price, but I screwed up this time. All that labor to install a used idler pulley. Oh well.......
