I think I found it, either out of position or laying on top of the tranny case. Either case I carried the dip stick into my local old fashioned Hardware Store to find a new O-ring which was an exact fit.
Look around for the original. Likely it is not in the transmission but peeled off when you removed the dip stick and is lying somewhere in the engine compartment.
