Anders,
Thanks, as always, for your sage advice. I'm glad it is looking "normal" at the moment.
The battery history is basically this:
I got the car in May of 2013 with a battery that had a date code of 2012. That battery "died" just before Thanksgiving. I did have a slight indication of a problem, though. I drove the car that Monday on three short trips. One of about a mile, one of about 4, then another of about 4. On the last trip - at night - I thought the dash lights looked a bit dim, I couldn't really tell about the headlights, though, with all the street lighting. It was the tuesday before Thanksgiving when I tried to drive it and nothing happened.
As I was traveling, I didn't get around to replacing the battery until January 4, 2014. Installed the brand-new Duralast Gold battery, started the car, all seemed well. Took it on a 30 mile round trip on the highway, just to see that all was well. Parked it Saturday evening.
Monday morning, January 6, went to drive it to work, and it was back to dead. Complete darkness. No central locks, no dome lights, nothing at all. Can't have been more than about 42 hours since parking it.
I've been driving my 2000 SE ever since, and that brings us to yesterday, when I did everything in this initial post...
I did realize today that I didn't test it with the alarm in the armed state. I'll have to try that in a couple weeks, after another trip...
Mvh.
