I've had bad batteries from new. So has my SAAB indy. That's why they have warranties. One I had was so-so, ie it lasted 6 months with dwindling performance. There could be something else wrong as well that exacerbates it, but all it takes is one bad cell (maybe the battery got dropped in shipping) and it's a problem... at a minimum, get it load tested. If you have had it disconnected for a while and it previously measured at full charge (just measure the voltage across it is fine)... see what it reads now. It should not discharge very quickly when disconnected.
I wonder though if there might be a charging issue if the dash lights are dimming... that was a symptom when we lost an alternator in the c900. The car shouldn't be running off the battery except to start.
