Some stuff:
The plugs I've pulled show the center cylinders running a little hotter than the end cylinders (big surprise). I've always thought the "6" heat range is a little high for this engine (then traditional copper plug for Saab turbo engines is a "7"), but my dealer tech says that they looked great to him.
DIC: the one you removed, 3.7c, might be newer than the car. 3.5 was circa 2002, the last of the unapproved, and 3.6 was circa 2003, first of the approved generation. 3.7 was supposedly the same circuitry as 3.6, but had a different part number. This per the information GM supplied to NHTSA as part of the DIC recall process. My 3.5 was replaced under the recall at something around 50K. I put the recall DIC on the shelf and put in the 3.6 that I bought as a spare shortly after I got the car. The 3.6 lasted to something over 100K.
The advance warning codes isn't so much luck - the 2003 computer software had code added to check for misfire and detects the most common failure mode in plenty of time, which changes DIC failures from a smoking hulk coming into the dealer on the end of a hook to a modestly expensive DIY repair done at your earliest convenience.
