HELP!!!!
My fabulous 04 Aero SW has just been given a tankful of contaminated fuel. Not sure with what, but when the tank was drained, a very cloudy something was found which upon settling, sank to the bottom of the container. This is currently being tested. The top up was 66 litres of 98 octane fuel from my regular supplier (a local supermarket here in rural France), the car drove from the pump to the attendants cabin where I stopped to get out to pay. The car would not restart, so my roadside assistance was called and taken to the local Renault dealer, there are no Saab dealers in this part of France!
Credit to the supermarket management, they have admitted all liability and will accept all costs to get my car back to pre-contamination condition, and have provided me with a decent vehicle until mine is ready.
My car has an Abbot Racing Stage 2 remap, a stainless 3" exhaust and an upgraded air intake, otherwise standard except for poly bushes throughout suspension and subframes. Currently at 170k miles and am hoping for 250k before consdidering a replacement.
My questions are,
1. Just how far reaching should the cleaning and replacement program go?
2. What components could be affected (injectors, maybe the catalizer?)
3. How many miles should be driven to assess the satisfactory completion of the job?
Any comments appreciated. I am concerned that the lack of Saab expertise may miss something vital, although the Renault mechanic does seem experienced and knowledgable with time at Renault race development in his history.
Regards
Mark
