Almost all solenoids goes back to normal Ohm reading when cold so that's why it is important to rig up some test cables so that it can be tested right after a long hard test drive when everything is as hot as possible.
It's like the crankshaft sensor that goes back to normal reading when cold.
Because of the high cost and uncertainty if it is the right repair, I would need to see some hard evidence several times in Ohm reading before pulling the trigger on that.
It is even possible with wire terminal crimp degradation creating resistance and that would be even harder to pinpoint even with the valve body cover removed.
No, definitely not a fun job to tackle.
