FYI the temperature gauge by default displays 9 o'clock for when the engine temp is between 83°C and 115°C. This deadband is programmable by tech II.
during your "test" is the A/C on or off? you should reproduce the test with the A/C off (put ACC in econ mode)
you say " tech 2 said everything was fine". Do you mean that there are no codes or do you mean that the engine temp (as read by the tech II) actuated the fans properly?
