I would buy the CORRECT part - CPS - by mail order. Splicing not necessary if you have the genuine part. The wires come from the CPS to the SAAB connector all the way up near the middle of engine bay, already wired.
Diagnosis should be there already where you searched the boards, be it a CPS or fuel pump or DIC.
CPS issues are usually with hot starts.
Carry a spare DIC always (a genuine one available at Advance Auto website. Recent comments below on the board). Correct NGK spark plugs and dielectric grease on DIC boots make a difference too.
