Composite of evidence since anything can be faked Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 14 Jun 2014 05:15:28 In Reply to: Advance/Carquest DIC's are they really genuine?, Bill, Fri, 13 Jun 2014 20:09:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
These lower priced DIC/IDM units from CarQuest have been available for two years now, not just a recent discount.
CarQuest was owned by, or owned, a company called World Pac which gave them access to car parts made all over the globe. Incredibly difficult website to use but they did have settings for browsing guests.
The CarQuest unit is a Wells brand. Wells is an established US based company who specializes in automotive electronics.
The Wells branded units have a SEM sticker, with current model number ID, the Saab name and Part Number, and build dates which are reasonably current and not fixed. By this I mean the most recent purchasers of these units received ones wiht build dates more current than what I bought two years ago.
Yes, it could all be an elaborate and well orchestrated ruse. The composite evidence suggests to me that they are genuine, offered at lower prices than the Saab branded units, and only recently coupled with loss-leader discounts from Advance Auto as a marketing ploy.
