Problems with OBD at State Inspection on 2009 9-5 Posted by Peter [Email] (#2804) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Peter) on Mon, 30 Jun 2014 07:15:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I wanted the community to know that there's a problem with some '09 MY 9-5s. You first become aware of it when you are unable to pass inspection at the DMV. In NJ, the 'standard' is an SPX reader - that's used in all lanes, at all locations, including private facilities. These readers were unable to communicate with my car, so I went to a Saab dealer. They plugged in fine, and sent me on my way with some photos of their Tek2 connecting. That wasn't enough, obviously, for the DMV! So, back and forth I went. We seem to be zeroing in on either the On-board-computer (GM Part) being faulty, or it just needing a software update.
Here in NJ, you get 4 years on new car, then we all got a 1 year extension... So, I assume there will be others following behind me as we all get our now-5-yr-old cars inspected.
Props to Tommy & Ron at Parkfield Saab in NJ for chasing this down...
