Hard to believe it's been nearly 6 months since I posted this, but I'm due for an update. The problem is very real, folks. I've been dealing with Saab Parts North America for most of the summer, as it's primarily their job to deal with warranty issues. They've tried not one, but two, new ECUs being shipped over from Sweden... all to no avail.
SPNA has cried uncle, and I'm back in the hands of the "Early Response Team" at GM. That's not going well, either.
There are at least 3 cars in NJ all experiencing the same problem, and no one seems to know what to do about it.
It's made me angry and sad, usually at the same time, to have a car that's operating fine, but won't pass inspection. I'm also realizing that the Saab community is in real trouble now, whenever a problem like this pops up. The dealers are still great (hat tip to Dave Slack at Park Ave Saab in Maywood NJ), but they're not being backed up by the home office anymore. They're really out on their own.
So, Saab owners, hope you're luckier than I was when your inspection comes due!
