You're saying that the newer 9-5's have a plug under the dash to accept a SAAB wiring harness that then goes all the way to the hitch?
My 2002 couldn't have been easier, with the plug at the spare tire. I installed a Draw-Tite hitch on that one.
For my 2007 (sans rear plug) I bought an universal plug from U-Haul, a powered one, and it works fine. Don't even bother with a non-powered splice kit. I also installed a Curt on the 2007, and I prefer the Curt to the Draw-Tite.
IIRC, the SAAB hitch required cutting something (the rear fascia on the Aero?), or maybe you had to drill your own holes?
