ac clutch/ pulley

The pulley is frozen on the compressor of my 03 9-5 2.3- The ac was working great before the belt went.
I was just going to put in a used compressor, but was not looking forward to doing the ac drain and refill.
I will probably first try to swap the clutch assembly-
found a youtube video to educate myself on this- would appreciate any advice.
My thought is to try the simple way first- if it doesn't work, then I can use the compressor exchange as a backup plan.
