i've heard that,
It's pretty clear that the bearing has failed. (190k)
I don't doubt that the compressor should be replaced. What I would like to understand is the relationship between the bad bearing and any internal components. Or, is this an estimate of amount of wear the internal components have gone through?
If I was paying for the repair- I Agree with replacing the entire component. Also, I have never done anything more on AC than adding a charge, and do not have any of the proper equipment.
